The 2026 Take on Board Alumni Dinner

Good company, shared stories and new connections

An accessible venue, tasty food and wonderful company made for a lovely evening.

The highlight, as always, was bringing together the women and gender diverse people who have connected through my KickStarter and Accelerator programs, with time to catch up, share stories and build friendships.

Familiar faces and new friendships: The alumni dinner

The Angliss Restaurant was buzzing well before dinner began, with the Take on Board alumni arriving for professional headshots, canapés and a chance to catch up.

There were familiar faces, new introductions and plenty of laughter as we gathered for our annual KickStarter and Accelerator alumni dinner. Our group photo captured the occasion—a room full of people connected through Take on Board, with experiences to share and friendships to build.

It was a lovely start to an evening of conversation, connection and celebrating our alumni community.

Around the tables: Catch-ups and new connections

Shaney captured the evening as it unfolded, from small group photos to candid moments around the tables.

There was plenty of conversation and laughter as everyone caught up with old friends and got to know new faces.

Changing seats, meeting new faces: Table switcheroo!

After the first course, it was time to mix things up with a table switcheroo!

We moved to new seats, introducing ourselves to new tablemates and picking up fresh conversations.

A simple change of scenery gave everyone a chance to get to know a few more people.

Sharing opportunities: Board marketplace

Board marketplace is a regular feature of Take on Board events, from the alumni dinner to our breakfasts.

Before we wrapped up, I invited anyone with a board vacancy to share it with the room, along with anyone looking for their next board role.

I always love this part of the evening. It’s a chance to hear about opportunities, learn more about each other’s board experience and ambitions, and make connections that might lead to someone’s next role.

Celebrating our 2026 graduates

I presented certificates of completion to our 2026 KickStarter and Accelerator graduates, recognising the time, energy and commitment they brought to their programs.

We captured the moment with group photos, certificates proudly in hand – such a lovely way to celebrate their achievements together.

Continue to meet, connect and have fun…

There are a number of ways you can maintain connections. Use the phone numbers and email addresses exchanged on the night (they’re also in the dinner booklet).

Hello! I’m Helga.

I’m a facilitator, coach and governance nerd who helps directors and aspiring board members be better leaders. In 2019, I asked myself: “What do women need to be their best in the boardroom?” and the Take on Board podcast was born, which quickly grew into a vibrant community whose collective wisdom I draw on to share insights.

Whether you’re aspiring to be a board director or already have a few chairs under your belt – this is a space to learn from likeminded leaders and find ways to elevate your impact in the boardroom.

If you’re preparing for your first board role or looking to bring fresh thinking to the table, I’d love to help. Get to know me better or explore my programs designed to kickstart and accelerate your board journey.
