This August’s Take on Board Breakfast featured Jillian West who introduces the basics of cultural competency of working with and being respectful of the culture of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations. She introduces the three pillars of aboriginal culture and outlines welcome to country and acknowledgment of country ceremonies.
Jillian from Nomuckerlener has worked extensively in the Indigenous space for 20 years and is strongly committed to working alongside community organisations, developing partnerships, and building cultural capacity. Jill strives to give Aboriginal people a voice through mentoring employment and education with the aim of closing the gap.

Nomuckerlener provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness training to businesses to help create a culturally safe environment both for workers and customers.
The purpose of this training is to:
- Increase participants’ knowledge and understanding of the issues, past and present, that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and communities.
- Provide information that will help participants to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
