KickStarter is a group program for women and gender diverse people who are thinking of taking on a board directorship position and don’t know where to start.

Explore what makes a board great in a safe, encouraging and fun environment
There are three scholarship places available at 75% off the full-priced fee.
Preference for these scholarship places will be given to women and gender diverse people who are:
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- From culturally diverse backgrounds
- Those who identify as having a disability
- LGBTIQA+
- Those undertaking unpaid caring responsibilities or working part-time to accommodate this

How it works

1Register for the program.

2I’ll send you the prep info the week before KickStarter starts.

3Modules 1-4 (9.30am to 5pm): we meet as a group in Brunswick, Victoria.

4Modules 5-10 (7.15am to 9am): we meet as a group on Zoom.
- Module 1: skills – what are the skills you need to focus on for a board role.
- Module 2: alignment – what sort of organisation should you be looking to join the board of?
- Module 3: commitment – what sorts of things do non-executive directors do?
- Module 4: diversity, equity and inclusion – why a diverse board is stronger (yet, sometimes, harder!).
- Module 5: pitch – a powerful, succinct pitch for why YOU will be a fabulous director.
- Module 6: board resumé – developing your board/governance resume.
- Module 7: where to look – how to find a board role.
- Module 8: interview – what to think about before, during and after the interview.
- Module 9: your first board – going in to your first board role with your eyes wide open…
- Module 10: progress sessions – the one and three-month 90-minute online progress sessions
