THE TAKE ON BOARD PODCAST FLOW...

Our discussion will broadly cover three sections:

* Your introduction as the guest
* The discussion/content
* The wrap

Note that I have provided indicative questions for each of these sections below, however the aim is for us to have a relaxed discussion – so we might go down a slightly different path. Don’t worry – it’s not a live interview so we can edit anything later to mamixmise your fabulousness!

I am aiming for the podcasts to be around 30 minutes in total.

10. Your introduction: I will either do an introduction of you and your experience, using your bio and experience provided above, or you can introduce yourself. What would you prefer?

11. Your introduction: we'll then do a bit more 'get to know you'. I have provided some starter questions below - tick EITHER option one (re: new introductory questions) OR one of the other questions. Note: if you choose option one, we'll do all of those questions, albeit briefly!

OPTION ONE - NEW INTRODUCTORY QUESTIONS FROM FIRST EPISODE OF 2022: (1)where were your mum and dad born, and do you know where your ancestors are from? (2) Where were you born or where did you grown up? Do you have any siblings? (3) Do you know the names of the Traditional Owners/First Peoples where you grew up? (4) How many languages do you speak (5) where do you feel your place or 'home' is?

12. Discussion/content : we'll then move to the main part of our interview - or, in board terms, 'the agenda'! Ideally, we'll focus on just one, maybe two, areas. It might be something like board dynamics, culture, risk, finances, strategy, strategic decision making or a legislative change such as the modern slavery legislation. Whatever it is that you would like to focus on. You might also choose to tell your story eg: your journey to the boardroom, or to building your board portfolio.

13. The Take on Board community loves hearing stories of your experience so it would be great if you had a few stories that illustrate your tips and advice about the topic(s) you want to cover. Can you give me a word or two/couple of lines about each of the stories you'd like to share?

14. The wrap part A - we'll do a reflection on the discussion, which is an opportunity for you to reiterate the main points you want people to take away. In relation to the topic(s) you have chosen above, what might your main take out points be (just put a few dot points down, if you can, and, don't worry - I won't hold you to this if our conversation goes in a different direction!). You might also like to include some specific actions for people to take away from our discussion.

15. The wrap part B - I'll ask you for a resource to share - a podcast, TED talk, book or anything else. What would you like to share? (include links)

17. The interview will be conducted virtually on Riverside. The most important things you can do for great sound quality is have a plug in microphone and use a wired computer connection. Tick what's possible for you to make this happen:

The microphones that are built into computers are not great and we want to make sure you sound fabulous. Please acknowledge that you will use a plug in microphone (even earbuds are fine as long as they plug in - not bluetooth EarPods or similar).

We'll use Riverside video to record the interview. You might want to try Riverside before we do the interview (the link will be in the calendar invite - let me know if you don't have it yet).

18. Please also consider the environment and equipment for recording to make sure you sound great. Tick what's possible for you to make happen:

Find a quiet place for our conversation

Turn off all non-essential programs on your computer to enable recording to happen with less potential for technical glitches or unplanned pings or chimes

Make sure all potential noise-makers are turned off or taken care of ahead of time (phones, email, kids, pets, etc)

While doing the interview, please try not to bump the table, scoot things around your desk, click pens or anything else that might make noise. It's amazing what the mic can pick up.

Have a glass of water nearby during our chat - you may need it.

Make sure your computer speakers are turned completely down and you’ve set your computer’s preferences to know that you’re going to hear sound through headphones or earbuds instead. This will help us avoid feedback and electronic echo in the recording.

We'll use Riverside video conferencing. You might want to try Riverside before we do the interview (the link will be in the calendar invite - let me know if you don't have it yet).

We absolutely adore our furry friends, and we understand that sometimes they can get vocal during recordings. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind trying to keep them in a quiet and cozy spot while we record so we can ensure the best possible audio quality.
